Easter! A Renewed Faith in Eternal Life for All of Us
This weekend Christians, and many non-Christians, around the world celebrate Easter, the culmination of the 40-days of Lent, the spiritual period of preparation, prayer, and charitable acts. Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, the proclaimed Son of God, following his death on the cross.
Following his short lifetime, Jesus was recognized as a teacher and healer. Numerous miracles are attributed to him, including restoring the sight of the blind, the hearing of the deaf, curing an endless assortment of ailments, and feeding the multitudes with only the smallest amount of food. Most importantly, Jesus’ life has been the inspiration for likely trillions of followers over the more than two thousand years since his death. His own life sacrifice has lead multitudes of others worldwide to try and emulate him by living their own lives based upon his teachings of love of God, self, family, friends and strangers alike.
In his life, Jesus fully experiencied his own human existence, undoubtedly feeling all the emotions we each do in our own lives. You might presume that as a spiritual being living a human existence, he was not without at least some human frailties…perhaps exemplified by some level of judgment and anger toward the tax collector, as he overturned that official’s table in the temple. It’s a reminder that each of us come into human life to experience what it is to be human…with all the challenges that come with living in a dualistic world of good vs. evil; life vs. dark; love vs. hate etc. And a reminder to always have compassion for our own shortcomings.
‘Second Coming’ Prophesies
Numerous references within biblical texts speak of Jesus’ return to Earth via his ‘Second Coming.’ I believe those prophesies are not meant as a literal second coming of Jesus in physical form, but a metaphorical one. I believe that the foretold second coming is of an enhanced Christ Consciousness in our lives. A rebirth of sorts, an awareness of an increased level of spiritual LIGHT, TRUTH, COMPASSION, and LOVE associated with Jesus and the Christ Conscientiousness, in the lives of awakened people on this Earth.
With each new day, we are in process of awakening to greater Truth in our lives. The truth of who we truly are, NOT as human beings having a spiritual experience, but rather the awakening to the fact that we are Spiritual Beings enjoying a human existence; beings who are gifted with eternal life.
All religions, despite any inherent human shortcoming, share a belief in God, a Spiritual Source of all things, sentient and non-sentient alike. I remain baffled at those who believe we were mysteriously created by a ‘big bang’ theory. Look at the miracle of life, especially in the birth of a child, and you should have no doubt of the presence of one true Source, God, in our lives. Easter is a good time to celebrate and give thanks for our human life, as well as the eternal life force underlying our very existence.
Yes, the energies that we are all living through right now are often overwhelming. Life changes are happening here and around the world. Like many, I have my moments of weariness and lost momentum. It’s tough not to feel tired from all that’s going on around us. Things we never asked for in our country. Remember to get out. Do something enjoyable to reignite your own internal fire. Live your life. Dream the big dreams of joy, love, and peace in this world. Remember you create your own reality, your own beingness. Share your love of life with family and friends. And always trust and have faith that we are building something new, something better.
Hope will always be present within each of us. It can’t be taken fromus. Remain steadfast in your faith. One by one. Together. Stronger.
So…what’s up with the bunny?
What does it have to do with Easter?
The secular symbol of Easter is the Easter Bunny. Early references to the Easter bunny date back to Germany in the sixteenth century, where bunnies were likely chosen for their implied association with spring-time fertility, and new life. German immigrants to America are said to have brought that folklore to the US in the 1700s, and this enduring imagery had remained with us to this day. Not surprisingly, there is no link to Jesus or the Christian faith, except for perhaps a loose link to the resurrection being seen as a recognition of ‘new life.’
Easter remains celebrated each year by many non-Christian families. It’s a time of joy, and a celebration of love. Yes, and that just might include a love of chocolate! All in all, the love shared is worthy of an Easter celebration, don’t you think?
My Easter Wish for You!
Happy Easter! And Happy Passover! Celebrate and give testament to your faith and belief of your indivisible Oneness with Source, and all enlightened beings, like Jesus, who have come before us, in sacrifice, to share the Truth of our own eternal being. Accept, recognize, and do not minimize your place in this Universe. You are of direct lineage to the One Source, the One Force of all life. Remember that we are all on our own life path, and are no better or worse than any other individual we encounter in life. Never feel less than. In truth you are more than you will ever imagine. May the Peace you feel today last a lifetime.

So enlightening: ‘we are spiritual beings experiencing a human existence; beings who are gifted with eternal life’. When you think about life from that perspective it keeps hope alive.
